The thousand years of the rapidly flowing streams of the beautiful Velika and Mala Paklenica canyons, with their sources high up in the Velebit Mountain, formed at their base the fertile plain and peaceful shore that make the site of Starigrad town.

As a center of the Paklenica Riviera it is small but lively tourist center with somewhat more than one thousands inhabitants, who exchanged their traditional manner of life in the foothills of the Velebit for life alongside the sea some half a century ago. Starigrad is not merely a pleasant seaside resort, but also a traditional gathering place for hikers and climbers, adventurers and scientists, and all nature lovers who come to enjoy the beauties of the area.

Stand up paddling is one of the most popular, and fun water sports. It's easy to learn, and delivers a full-body workout so it has become a popular cross-training activity. Once you stand at balance, full height on your paddle board, you can begin enjoying unique views of everything around you.

Today we will use them to explore the area around Starigrad. After some instructions on the beach in front of hotel Vicko we head out towards the open sea adventure, and tour the crystal clear Adriatic coastline like never before.

Additional info

No previous paddling experience is needed and even children from 6 years of age, accompanied by parents, can participate.
Inflatable SUP boards are used which are easy and safe to navigate.
You will get a life jacket and a paddle, plus if necessary a dry bag for your personal items (cameras, drinks, etc.).
Don’t forget to bring shorts or a bathing suit, a T-shirt, spare clothes, a towel, sun cream, water and picnic. In case of colder weather take a long-sleeved shirt.

Please note

Weather - the summers are typically warm and sunny. From May to October temperatures are comfortable for hiking, paddling, and swimming. Rain is always a possibility in Croatia so it is essential to bring adequate rain wear and a jacket in case of inclement weather.
